Clement: From Nursing to Nurturing Youth Through Farming Innovation

Clement Taonani’s journey from nursing school graduate to a successful agribusiness entrepreneur is a remarkable story of determination and self-learning. After graduating from nursing school in 2020, he pursued his vision of venturing into agribusiness. Through self-education via online videos and textbooks, he eventually made a bold decision: selling his phone to rent land and buy tomato seedlings.

In 2022, his efforts paid off when he participated in the 360° AgriJobs Approach and won the startup challenge at the AgriBiz Hub of LUANAR (Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources). This victory marked a significant milestone in his journey.

Today, Clement’s farm has diversified significantly, employing agroecological methods and providing job opportunities for many young people. Driven by his passion to uplift others, he established the “Nthawi Farms Innovation Hub,” where he imparts his knowledge and mindset to youth, implementing tools from the same 360° AgriJobs Approach that propelled him to success.
